The sound of ‘ee’ in ‘people’

‘Poeple’ is just a weird word.  Not for what it means but for how it’s spelled.  It is the only word in the entire English language that makes the ‘ee’ sound using the letters ‘eo’.  No wonder people think English is a hard language to learn.

Which road do I take?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. “Which road do I take?” She asked. His response was a question: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.” Lewis Carroll Alice In Wonderland

Beginner Wakesurfer – How to Stand

The first time I caught a wave, it only lasted about 3 seconds, but I was hooked. Often when people first have wakesurfing described to them, they simply cannot understand that you are truly surfing behind a boat. The questions I repeatedly get asked are, “so you’re not strapped in to your board?” And, “you’re [...]

Reach new heights on your board

I have watched Kite Surfing on YouTube from time to time, and am always amazed at the air these guys are able to catch. I’m also always bummed that I don’t live close enough to an ocean to give it a try. Well, it looks like there’s something called a Wake Kite available, which allows [...]

Minor face lift to front page

For example, $match = "hello to you world what in the world were you thinking"; $match =~ /hello.*world/; $match is now "hello to you world what in the world" If you want to make this match [...]

Streets of silver

I remember the time I actually fell for the quarter glued to the sidewalk trick. Who wouldn’t stop to pick up a quarter? That’s like, almost a month of good luck. The worst part after trying to pick it up and realizing it is attached, is standing up and then trying to decide whether to [...]

Hot potato in a horse’s mouth

I once heard a story about a horse who bit a man on the shoulder while he was teaching it how to wear a bridle and saddle. After getting bit, the man went inside and baked a potato. He then placed the potato under his shirt on his shoulder, with a cloth to separate his [...]
