Composing HTML for an Email
If you’ve ever had the unfortunate task of creating an HTML formatted Email, you’ve probably run into the fact that not every Email client is going to display it the way that you intended it. In order to get your entire readership to view it in some semblance of the original, you have to resort to tricks in your HTML and have to use a lot of HTML Tables to get everything to turn out looking like it should.
Some people have recently started up a web site to get the discussion going around having standards for Email, and I fully support it.
Any of you out there who still think Email should only consist of text need to get over it. Of course I agree that you should be able to block whatever you want at the client level. But there’s no reason those of us who either receive or send Email newsletters and the like should have to work so hard just to try and ensure everyone has the same experience.
The website is http://www.email-standards.org/.
